A girl’s gotta have standards…

While I was in Indianapolis, site of next weekend’s Super Bowl XLVI, I talked a lot on stage about football. Everyone reading knows how much I love the game and how hard I ride for my Eagles. I hope you’ll enjoy the clip, and if you’re a sports fan (male or female) and you’ve ever been involved in an intra-divisional romance — or worse — with a person who’s not a sports fan at all, I hope you’ll also identify. ;)

I wish I could be this funny on purpose

From time to time I’ll get invited to do fundraisers for little to zero pay, and because I have good home training and a desire to get into Heaven, I’ll agree. Yesterday I was asked to headline an event for Planned Parenthood this coming February. I’ve got enough booked for February to make ends meet and it’s on an off nite so I told them I’d be happy to do it. They were excited to have me and informed me, apologetically:

“We can’t pay you, but you’re more than welcome to sell your merchandise after the event.”

Now… If you don’t understand why that’s hilarious, you should probably watch this video:

Yeah… I couldn’t make stuff like that up. Life, FTW.

P.S. If you’re new to the blog, this is the story behind the t-shirt.

I… I’m so in love

So proud of my fellow Howardite, Stefanie Brown, who was just named African-American Vote Director for the Obama re-election campaign’s Operation Vote outreach effort. Stefanie is just awesome, and though she was a few years behind me at Howard, I had the pleasure of watching this dynamic young lady rise through the ranks of student government while I was employed in the University’s Office of Admissions. Google her and get familiar. You’re going to be hearing a lot more about her in the years to come!

On a not-so-unrelated note, I (like most of you, probably) was sent this YouTube clip of President Obama singing at a fundraiser on last nite:

How cool is this? And President “O” can saaaang! This just made me ride for him even harder. Not to minimize the challenging work Stefanie will now be doing, but I feel like that ish right there… just made her job a tiny bit easier. ;)

Go Stefanie!!! We’re all so, so proud of you!!!

Also, I love my President.

Class

I posted this photo on my Facebook page a couple months ago while I was sitting at a bar in Chicago. My beer of choice is Yuengling when available, but since it wasn’t, I ordered a Stella. Because the chalice makes me feel classy. Well, a few weeks after this I get an e-mail from my high-school friend Marques who now works for Anheuser-Busch. He saw my post and wanted to send me a chalice so I could drink whatever beverage I wanted out of it and still feel fancy. How nice is that??!?

I chose ornch soda. ‘Cause nothing says class like drinking ornch soda out of a gold-rimmed chalice. Fave Christmas gift! He actually sent a set of 6. I feel a cocktail party coming on…

THANKS MARQUES!
