Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

What an awful title for a blog…

Moving on, one of my biggest pet peeves is when people buy coats, jackets or skirts with splits but don’t cut the string that holds the split together before they wear it out. I was standing next to this lady waiting for the Bolt Bus on Tuesday and I just wanted to rip open the bottom of her coat… I just don’t understand how you get to be an adult without realizing this little cross stitch is made to be broken.

My friend Shayla told me she had a wool winter coat for 3 years and didn’t know it had pockets because she never cut the string. She was finally schooled by a co-worker while she was complaining about her coat with the faux pockets. She said she thought it was her penance for buying a coat on ĂĽber clearance at Burlington…

Exhale.

What do they think that one little “X” stitch is for? If it breaks on its own, do they take it to the cleaners to have it repaired? Aren’t they even curious about why the coat or skirt has a closed split in the first place? I swear I wonder if these folks gloves are still attached to the matching scarf — just dangling around their necks…

I think if I were a superhero, my skill would be to swoop in on people undetected and cut the binding thread on their clothing garments. Maybe it wouldn’t make the world a better place, but it’d sure cut down on the number of times per day I wanted to shout at strangers… Which would be super.

I also hate it when grown men leave the designer label on the sleeves of their suit jackets. I think I’m going to start caring around the hem cutter tool or a pair of scissors in my purse so I can help save these fools from themselves. #IBlameTheirMommas

Oh me too! I actually heard a woman complain that she couldn’t walk in her skirt because the kick-pleat was sewn together. *facepalm*

    p.s. Love your blog!

OMG, so she realized it was sewn together and just thought it was a design flaw? Hilarious! And thanks so much for reading. Glad to make your virtual acquaintance! ;)

SOOOO….I had no idea that those could be broken. I had this coat for a year with these “for show pockets”.

Thanks and I feel like a moron.

Oh my God Joe! Well I feel like I’ve done a public service today. Hahaha, I’m feeling a lot better about my ranting. THANKS GUYS! Now get to cuttin’!

your something like a hero erin. and im glad my story has helped others. now i have a question….WHY do they have these stupid strings?!?!?! it makes absolutely no sense. why sew the pockets together and not put a lil note with a picture of guy opening the pockets so one knows?!?!?!?!? its not like you have never encountered the real fake pocket….so it kinda makes sense that a new coat…has for show pockets!!

This is one of my pet peeves too! And on the pocket thing – my mother told me her mother taught her not to cut the pockets open on pants and skirts and things because it would ruin how they looked cause you’d fill them up with stuff and then have bulgy pockets. According to my Nana, your clothes “lay nicer” if you leave the pockets sewn shut. I cut mine open with glee! Sadly, this is what passes for rebellion in my family…

Shayla – as to why these things get stitched together: I think for pleats and slits, it’s so they don’t get wrinkled up when shipping to the stores. I have no idea why for the pockets though…maybe in case they wind up hanging in the store for a while and start to stretch out? I don’t know…

I totally get the pockets on slacks, etc. No need to put your hands or stuff in them — they lay better that way. I do/don’t do the same thing. But overcoats and suit jackets are where I draw the line!!! ;)
