So, I’ve been trying to come up with a few new bits on our president and first lady to perform for my TBS TV taping in a few weeks. I figure I’m from DC and the show tapes in Chicago… I feel like it’s a no brainer. I posted the status below a few days ago on Facebook and there seemed to be a consensus that the idea had potential — even my buddy, the hilarious Keith Albertstadt commented on it! I tried out a very similar bit onstage the last two nites and it hit big, so I’m gonna keep tweaking it. No “Blog to the Stage” video to post yet, but if all goes well, it’ll be included in the final edit of the show. I don’t know why I never thought to use Facebook to write jokes before… I mean, duh… what are “friends” for? ;) Tee hee ;) Wish me luck!
Me talking about sports on television!
Last week, as you know I was a guest on Comcast SportsNet’s Washington Post Live. Well here’s the video of that appearance! I’m seriously trying to figure out how to get some type of job over there. How much fun would that be?!?

Last Wednesday I was a guest on Washington Post Live, a TV show that airs weekdays at 5 p.m. in the DC Metro area on Comcast SportsNet. They interviewed me about comedy and sports — my TWO favorite things! BFF Jenny flew into town and due to a series of events including my car breaking down after I picked her up at the airport, she ended up coming with me to the taping.
It was the day Michael Vick was released from prison and the taping was super fast-paced. People were in and out of the green room and studio like every 5 minutes. And everyone was asking everyone else, “What are you here to talk about?” or “What do you do?” Two guys walked in not too long after Jenny and I got there and I asked one of them what he was there to talk about. And he said, “Just football, I think.” Reeeally nice guy. When he finally went into the studio, someone came over and said, “He’s the quarterback for the Redskins.” Eeeeks! But it wasn’t Jason Campbell. Just wanted to clear that up. It was “a” QB for the Skins, not “the” QB. BFF Jenny knew exactly who he was. She was like, “That’s the QB out of Hawaii. Great arm.” I felt bad, but I’m not so Eagle-minded that I wouldn’t recognize the starting QB for the team in the city where I live. So sorry Colt Brennan. You were super nice. And also quite hot ;)
Jenny was in the greenroom apparently taking photos of the TV while I was on set. And I’m glad she did because the titles were hilarious. Here are the two she sent me:
Haha… I don’t know. Let’s find one and ask them what it’s like.
I’m coming into the studio as Redskins are leaving and all the staff is like, “This is Erin Jackson. She’s an EAGLES fan.” Were they trying to get me beat up? Also the caption is hilarious with the image. Are those Eagle Eyes?… My mom calls them my “slave eyes.” Tee hee ;)
I had a blast at the show. I’ve always thought it’d be super cool to be a TV sports personality, so it was nice to be in that environment and see what it’s like. Maybe one day… And I swear if it ever happens I will not be wearing one of those Russian fur hats Pam Oliver is so fond of. Tee hee ;) I’m looking forward to going back to the show during football season. I promise to study up on my Skins personnel next time!
My first commercial(s)!!!
Yay! Hooray! Here are the two commercial spots I wrote and shot for TBS that I blogged about here a couple months ago. I think they came out pretty well!
P.S. The diet will start tomorrow. Or maybe Monday… Monday’s a good day for diet starting ;)
I’mma be on TV, Jazmine Sullivan, and is this shirt the devil?
Sorry in advance for the epic. Eat some now, save some for later…
So, I went up to NY yesterday for what I guess you would call a ‘commercial shoot.’ It was a project for TBS where instead of having their corporate advertisers run 30-second commercials, they ask comics to write bits around the products and perform them in comedy club settings. I guess it’s a more subliminal type of advertising and the spots air primarily during the weeknight comedy block. Not sure if I did a good job of explaining this, so here’s one that cutie patootie Jeff Dye did last go-round:
That make sense? So our companies were Pop Tarts, Cici’s Pizza and I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter. It was a challenge to write jokes that portray all these products in a completely positive light because my instinct as a comic is to poke fun at things, point out what’s bad or dumb about them…Â Strangely, that doesn’t seem to work when you’re writing ads for a product. Imagine that. ;)
We shot in Brooklyn and I headed right back to DC as soon as I wrapped the shoot. I hate driving on bridges but in order to get home I had to drive the Verrazano and the Goethals. I was OK on the Verrazano…
But that damn Goethals Bridge… OMG!!! It was smooth sailing leaving Brooklyn and all the way down the Jersey Pike, but as I’m merging onto 95 South after crossing the Delaware Memorial I hear a loud CRACK! I can tell whatever it was happened to my car, but I had no idea what it was. As I slowed down I heard a crunching sound and thought that I had run over a bottle or something. But my tires seemed to be OK… I had to cross 4 lanes of traffic to get to the shoulder and when I finally parked the car and turned around I realized that my rear driver’s side window was completely blown out. That crunching sound was the glass falling out onto the highway. Continue reading →
Me on Bob and Tom TV
I know I was supposed to find out when the Bob and Tom episode aired so that anyone interested could watch, but I was a loser and I didn’t. However, my friend Herbie managed to catch it and tape it for me and I Youtubed it for y’all! Doing Bob and Tom is always fun. If you’re not in one of their radio markets, check out their podcast or watch them weeknights at midnite on WGN if you get that channel.

OK, OK…
I posted a short clip of my performance on Ellen. It’s to the right in the menu bar.
Enjoy!
And you’re welcome. ;)
Chattin’ about my worst day ever on my very best day ever
So maybe it’s a little extreme to say that Monday was my ‘very best day ever.’ I mean my wedding day and the birth of my first and third children should probably be at the top of my ‘very-best-day-ever-ometer…’
Wait… What’s that? I’m single and childless? You are so right…
Monday WAS my very best day ever ever! Here’s the part of the interview where I tell Ellen about my worst show ever. Feel free to laugh at my pain.
