Drinking & Drowning

I try to run camera at all my shows. In case I come up with a new idea, to flesh out something I’ve been working on, or to capture any fun, random moments that may happen with the crowd. Last weekend in Virginia Beach there was a guy sitting up front who would smile after a joke he liked, but never laughed. So I decided to talk to him, and it led to me to a funny story I almost never tell. I hope you enjoy. And don’t feel guilty for laughing. Some stereotypes are really funny.

Told y’all she be double dutchin’

I recently came across this photo of Michelle Obama playing double dutch with some children as part of her Let’s Move campaign and I immediately burst out laughing thinking about this joke I made — it was actually more of a side comment — a few years ago about why I love her so much and why I think she’s so cool. This was a Valentine’s Day show just a few weeks after President Obama’s inauguration in 2009. Sooo jealous of these kids…

I apologize for the video quality — I wasn’t HD-ing it back then. But check it out and maybe you’ll have a chuckle too!

My Comedy Moment Moment

Soooo… this little spot has been airing on IFC the past month. I don’t have IFC so I’m just now seeing it. The concept is super cute, but I’m a little bummed they “mis-captioned” me a couple times — mainly because one of the errors resulted in a grammatical mistake and I’m a grammar snob.

Them: these service
What I really said: each service

Them: to take the toilet
What I really said: to snake the toilet

Yes, I really did print the corrections. Hush. My takeaway from this is that maybe I should learn to speak more slowly… But I’m way happy to have the spot on air! Yay. ;)

Me In Your City: Atlanta/Los Angeles

On Monday nite the flight I was on from Atlanta to Los Angeles caught on fire mid-flight. It was really scary. But we evacuated via the inflatable slides, which was kinda exciting too — though I’m not sure I should admit that… Anyway, I created a Me In Your City video blog about. Wanna watch it? Here it go:

Bad Dates and Bearded Ladies

Here are a couple clips from my recent visit to The Bob and Tom Show. In this first one, I tell the crew about my worst date ever. You regular readers have undoubtedly heard about this one. It happened a while back, but I’ve only started talking about it on stage recently.

And in this clip, listen to us discuss the lack of racial equality within the ‘circus freak’ industry.
